Renal Failure:Be Alert to Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive Heart Failure is a common complication in Renal Failure and it is also a major death cause for the patients. Therefore, it is extremely important for the patients to take precautions to prevent it in advance.
Congestive Heart Failure is mainly attributed to the following factors:
* The malfunctioned kidneys loss their function in eliminating extra fluid, waste materials and electrolytes. As a result, dangerous levels of potassium build up in body, thus resulting in hyperkalemia. Potassium is in charge of maintaining muscular function. High potassium level can affect cardiac muscular function, leading to arrhythmia and Congestive Heart Failure.
* Due to building up of fluid in body, it can put load on blood vessels, resulting in high blood pressure. It is a major factor in causing Congestive Heart Failure in Chronic Renal Failure. Also, increased blood volume has a direct influence on heart.
* Infection is commonly seen among people with Chronic Renal Failure due to weak immunity. Especially, respiratory tract infection is a common cause in inducing heart failure.
* Insufficient carnitine insufficiency plays a vital role in Congestive Heart Failure. Carnitine is essential factor in the metabolism of free fatty acid and it can improve the exercise tolerance of heart. Lower level of carnitine in body can affect the normal heart function.
* Additionally, calcium- phosphate metabolic disorder, malfunction, hyperparathyroidism also essential factors in causing heart disease for people with Renal Failure.
Dialysis can reduce the incidence of Congestive Heart Failure, but it is still the major death cause for the patients on dialysis.
Besides heart disease, the patients with Renal Failure should also watch out for infections and stroke. In a follow-up study, the statistical data shows that the three leading causes of death in End Stage Renal Failure are cardiovascular disease, serious, and stroke. The death rate of patients with Renal Failure due to heart disease is 20 times that of the general population. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in patients under long-term dialysis.
To reduce the death rate in Renal Failure, the patients should take effective precautions to prevent the above three dangerous factors.
