There is no a generalized life expectancy for people with End Stage Renal Failure (ESRD). How long the persons can survive depends on many factors.
As the kidneys can not function normally, it will cause problems to the systems of the whole body. Many patients may die of its complications before the kidneys fail completely.
Heart failure is a very common death cause of Renal Failure. The kidneys can not work well, it will cause much fluid to build up in body. Under this condition, conventionally, the patients will have to require dialysis to survive. However, the patients should know that dialysis is just like a filter which can only filter out a partial harmful substance from body, but can not improve renal function at all. In other word, the patients’ renal function still keeps declining during dialysis. That is why the dialysis intervals will become shorter and shorter over time.
In order to avoid such bad results, the patients with ESRD should take proper remedy to stop the disease progression and improve their residual renal function. Although it is hard to recover the normal renal function just as common people, it is possible to for them to avoid dialysis and live a high-quality life.
